In a Picture

The way you looked
The way you stared
The way you laughed and ran your fingers through my hair
The way you smiled
I was beguiled
And in your cabinet my heart was promptly filed
We never knew
That there were rules
We thought that people out of love were silly fools
The way we held each other tight
And hoped we’d stay in that position for the night

I saw it in a picture
When we spoke
We’d laugh and joke
More than a day apart we thought we would explode
You’d hold my hand
And understand
The crass behaviour of a boy not yet a man
We loved to touch
I loved your smell
Your very presence could make heaven out of hell
Oh your eyes
Were open skies
In which my tortured soul would soar and long to dwell

I saw it in a picture

My mind was numb
I loved your bum
And all the other bits and pieces were such fun
The sands of time
Could not deny
The endless pleasures and the treats that were to come
Like dogs on heat
You could not beat
Us two apart with sticks or make us incomplete
And every day
We’d wake and say
How sad it would be if love ever went away

I saw it in a picture
